Local Hot Spots

Pamet River Valley

Pamet River Valley was named after the hundreds of Pawmet Indians who resided in Truro many centuries ago. They fished in these waters and gathered shellfish from the tidal flats.  The river was formed by runoff from the last glacial period. Beginning as freshwater it changes to brackish and then salt flowing into Cape Cod Bay.

Today, nearly three-quarters of Truro remains protected through the National Seashore.  A great way to enjoy this pristine area is fishing. The best time to fish is obviously dawn and dusk. Few places offer such a short distance to witness the sun rising and setting over water.
